A Quinnipiac University poll
released on Wednesday revealed 52 percent of American voters trust the
media over Donald Trump to "tell [them] the truth about important
issues.
” Only 37 percent said they trusted Trump more. According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, the poll was conducted from February 16-21 and surveyed 1,323 voters from all over the country.

On February 17, Trump tweeted
“the FAKE NEWS media … is not my enemy. It is the enemy of the American
people!” sparking a huge conversation around the President’s
relationship with the free press. The number of people who trust the
news more than the President skews among Democratic and Republican
voters — eighty-six percent of Democrats trusted the media more and 78
percent of Republicans were more inclined to believe what Trump told
them.
The poll also asked about Trump’s leadership
skills, honesty and whether or not he cares about the average American
person. He scored higher negatively in each subcategory. His approval
rating (now at 38 percent) has dropped since earlier this month while,
Vice President Mike Pence’s approval rating remains slightly higher than
Trump’s — he’s hovering around 41 percent.
“President
Donald Trump's popularity is sinking like a rock," assistant director
of the QU poll Tim Malloy said. "He gets slammed on honesty, empathy,
level headedness and the ability to unite. And two of his strong points,
leadership and intelligence, are sinking to new lows. This is a
terrible survey one month in."
