The main house was all but destroyed and some of the surrounding structures are gone
As reported, Branson and his crew weathered the storm from a basement and they all survived.
Branson had an awesome menagerie of exotic animals on the property and we're told a number of them didn't make it through the hurricane ... but many did.250 flamingos are going strong, as are 60 lemurs.
We're told all of the parrots and toucans also survived. Our Necker Island sources say Branson converted his wine cellar into an animal hospital and shelter for the injured, weak and scared.
Branson shared some photos and video of the wreckage himself Sunday, and it only confirms the damage to his home.
he says on instagram:
"Much of the buildings and vegetation on Necker has been destroyed or badly damaged. But British Virgin Islands Hurricane #Irma story is not about Necker - it is about the tens of thousands of people who have lost their homes and their livelihoods. @virginunite is coordinating aid to local BVI families & communities affected - please donate to help http://www.virgin.com/unite/bvi-community-support-appeal"
